Windows 6.1 is amazing!

The wait is over.

So, finally after months of waiting I have upgraded my phone from windows mobile 6.0 to 6.1.

If I had to sum it up using one word - I would say: amazing.

I have been waiting for this upgrade since the first time I read about Windows coming out with a new version!  Yesterday, on a whim I thought I would check to see if it was ready for my phone, The Blackjack 2. Well, after many links from site to site I found what I was looking for …

The Samsung Windows Mobile upgrade page

Keep in mind, this upgrade was for the Samsung Blackjack 2 phone ONLY. It will not work on any other phones. You gotta wait till your carrier comes out with the individual phone version.

All in all, the instructions were pretty easy to follow. I did the step by step sync and all that and I installed the modem and did all necessary steps to prepare my phone for upgrade.

It took about 45 minutes for me to do because I was pretty nervous and wanted everything to be followed correctly, so I was sure to not rush things. I would have cried if I screwed up my phone and had to talk to tech support…

Anyway, The new upgrade went well and I am very happy. It does have some new features - My favorite being - threaded texting!

(Actual text between my daughter and I. Her BFF "BoBo" wanted me to cook spaghetti for dinner…lol)

1.This is an awesome feature! V and I text so much during the day that most times we are carrying on different conversations.. So having the threaded text feature is awesome!

2. In windows Mobile 6.1 you can set your own home page. Right now - I have mine to MSN Mobile. (the white is the flash reflection!)

3.You can now copy/paste text. When you are texting or even if you are using Internet Explorer. You can also "zoom out" when you use the Internet Explorer. (like you can with Opera)

4. The actual design just looks awesome! It seems sleeker, has slightly rounded edges, has a couple more colors (I have not tried em) and a couple more layouts. The one I am using now is the one it first started with - and I love it.

The second picture - my screen looks dirty..Sorry. That’s my makeup! lol.

I guess owning a Blackjack 2 does have one disadvantage!

On a scale of 1-10 I give this upgrade a 10. Amazing…windows did it right - this time…

Go here to see and compare what else the upgrade has to offer. I noticed AT & T has an GPS/Navigator on the phone too! (sorta like MSN Live) I was playing with that last night - the damn thing talked to me like a Garmin! lol.

It also has a couple new games - Sims bowling, pac man demo, and the usual Solitaire, bubble breaker….

The battery life is also said to be extended. and i must say, so far I am still at 3 bars. Usually, I am down to two by this time.

Task manager is updated too. It shows you how much memory and CPU usuage you are using.

And the Icons look a bit cooler too. Most were updated, and some are the same.

All in all. It’s a great upgrade. I have renewed faith in Windows once again.

Has anyone else upgraded yet? If so - I would love to hear about it!

What a few busy days!

November 30, 2007 · Filed Under Daily Stuff, Geek Stuff · 1 Comment

Wow. This week has flown by. And, what a week it has been.
It all started on Tuesday, when I woke up to no cable or internet. I was pissed. The bastards shut me down - for $50.00 bucks. I just about died! When I spoke to the cable woman the day before Thanksgiving, she told me, “I was all set…” I had just paid $200.00 on that day.

Tuesday was a different story. I could not pay the $50 cause my check had not appeared in my bank yet. (I was waiting for a deposit) So that night we were without Tv or internet. I was so mad! I missed all my favorite shows. Boston Legal, NCIS and The Unit…

I called my bank and they said to check back on Wednesday…

So Wednesday morning I called my bank and did the automated phone thingy - SCORE! it was there!!

Before I left for work, I called cable and paid the $50 bucks (again - automated) and no shit - 2 minutes later my cable was back on. Internet too.

I was happy girl once again.

So Wednesday, I decided to finally do a complete reinstall of my Windows XP. I saved all the stuff I needed and moved them to my other hard drive and after I came home from work I redid the whole thing.

It takes nothing to redo Windows (usually) but …I did not get a 100% clean install, so I redid it again…

Then it was working fine. Was a bit sketchy though.

So yesterday, I put in the wrong ATI driver - so I had to uninstall/reinstall it again. This totally screwed my installation up, so I had to do it AGAIN!

This was fine, but in the process - I wiped clean a file I needed. The password file of all files. So I could not log into my site here cause I forgot my password.

Sent for my password 6 times! But my email addy kept getting blocked for spam! I was not aware of this until I logged into my account (finally) and checked the email server.

Then I shot a letter off to my internet provider. I do not know why I am getting tagged as spam. I guess it is my host provider. They have had tags before.

So, because it goes through them - it will be tagged as spam. Needless to say, I am back up and running. So you all will be getting updates once again.

;)
