Old Orchard Beach vacation, part 2.

Following up on my post from Friday…

I wanted to finish my post about our vacation that V and I went on. As I told you Friday, we stayed at an adorable little Motel - The Green Dolphin Motel, and I got nothing but good things to say about them! Not only were their rates reasonable, but they also were a few minutes away from the beach and it was clean, quiet and the bed was super comfortable!

Highly recommend them, if you are going to be in Maine by the beach & you need a place to stay, go there you really won’t be disappointed.

I know, I know…I must sound like an ad, but I can assure you - it’s not. I am just really pleased with our stay and I had a wonderful time! I really believe that when you see or experience something that is good - it should be written about just as much!

So, Saturday night we went out to the pier and had a great time walking around the little amusement park called “Palace Playland.” it was cute. Pretty much reminds me of the “Carnivals” that I use to go to as a kid. It was packed. And also quite loud & noisy, but it was fun!

Then we went out to eat at a cute little place called the Bell Buoy . It was nice, and I had a great grilled chicken salad and I actually had a drink with my meal It was called Lava flow I believe. Quite tasty. Never had one before & I think I have a new favorite drink. I’m usually a diet coke type of gal and I never order a drink with my meal, so it was quite nice..

V had the haddock & said it was delicious!

Afterwards, we walked around for a while on the beach, and at the park and just generally had a great time.

Did you know that little birdies come out on the beach at night - at low tide? I never knew that! Apparently they do.

When we got in… around midnight I think? We kinda chilled, had a drink together and sat in the jacuzzi for a bit. It was really nice!

V made the jacuzzi water so hot though - that when we got out…we were both ready to slip into a coma cause we were so relaxed! Luckily, we didn’t actually slip into the coma….lol and had a great rest of the night connecting with each other on a more personal level.. ::wink - wink::

I slept fairly well. The bed was super comfortable and all. But I was a bit worried that I would not hear my phone alarm in the morning - (checkout was at 10am) So I kinda woke up off & on throughout the night.

We checked out at 9:45 and actually ended up meeting the owner who was cleaning the pool. He was a great guy. Really friendly and very helpful. He let us know where we could park when we left the Motel, and actually told us to leave the car in their lot & not to worry about it. He also told us we were more then welcome to use the bathrooms and such if we needed.

V & he talked with him for a bit then we went & spent the rest of our day on the beach & roaming the pier. It was nice.

Neither of us wanted to leave.

Sadly though, we had to - There was a bit more traffic on the way home, but we actually arrived home in time to pick up my daughter at work.

I think Old Orchard Beach is my new favorite place. I hope I get to spend a good amount of time there in the future.

Heck, I liked it so much that I would love to leave here and go there to live! Something about that place is like - magick to me.

Catchy titles not included…

Catchy titles not included…

Nope, just don’t have a catchy title today. It’s been a long day. Very busy too. I have a headache that could kill a horse (see Twitter update. ) and I am tired cause I had to get up and go to work today! (I know, I know, bring on the violins.)

Where the hell is the Publishers Clearing House guy anyway? Shouldn’t he be bringing me my 1 million dollar check by now? I mean, I bought all the crap & put all those damn stickers where they should be - on the envelope and on the SECRET million dollar place… I must just keep missing him…

Remember how I was telling you last week about V and how we were trying to work it out and we were doing really well? Well, I am happy to report that all is going well - still!  As a matter of fact, we are going on our first overnight trip this Saturday!

And I am really getting totally psyched about it!  :woot:

We have never gone away overnight before. This is a first for us. I am a tad nervous because quite honestly, I have never been out of "mom mode" since I was 19 years old.

Well, OK…I was outta mom mode for about a week in August last year… But that was not the same - I was still here. My daughter was away in Portugal.

Honestly though, I have not had a actual "vacation" my entire life. So this is a whole new thing for me!

And by "vacation" I mean getting time off from work and going somewhere! I take time off of work all the time in the summer but never once have I gone away.

We are going to "Old Orchard Beach" Maine. I was looking for places in Southern Maine, and when I saw the beach picture - I almost died. I never saw a beach that big. I am use to the nasty, little rocky ones that take ten minutes to walk…The picture here at the top left is an actual aerial view of the beach. It’s awesome! 7 miles of beach. Now that’s a kick ass beach to be walking on!

Sheesh, maybe I should move to Maine & run that beach every morning…Could lose tons of weight that way!

Did I tell ya how psyched I am? V has rented a room for us across from the beach and we were lucky enough to get the room we wanted that had the jacuzzi in it.

And…dare I say it…It could be romantic! There..I said it.  Romantic…

Me. Simple Mindz. The gal who gets totally excited about software, computers and cell phones. The lady who walks people through computers and fixing them better them most "tech support" people…. might just have a "romantic" side!

Imagine that.

I will be taking lots of pictures I hope. So be prepared peeps. Cause I will be posting them.

:)
