Say Buh-Bye to Entrecard.

It’s time to say goodbye.
It’s been a while now since I signed up for Entrecard. It’s actually been since January.
At first when I started using it I was just totally confused about the system and what it was about. It didn’t take me too long to figure it out. And then when I did finally figure it out, it turned out to be a huge pain in the ass! I must have sat here on occasion for a few HOURS at a time to promote this blog and honestly, I only got a few hits at a time!
I would go to a site, click on their "card" and then it would take me to another blog with that persons card on there. On and on I went and it would drive me crazy. Especially when I would click on some blog I did not like.
And there was no freakin way that I would actually buy any credits - I am just way too cheap for that.
When I would go to check my stats - I got like a total of ten hits in a week. Sorry, but that is just not worth the amount of clicking I had to sit here and do! And then the amount of credits that you got were measly. Even more so when they changed their system around.
Most of my traffic comes from Google searches and Stumble upon. I will stick with what works. And I’m sorry - Entrecard just wasn’t working.
So, I must say goodbye to it and move on. There is valuable space to be had over there! And I am sure I can find something to put there in it’s place!

smart move.. I stop using it a few weeks after i signed up. There are better ways to generate traffic. Like having good content.. using SEO and networking with other writers/bloggers.
Eathan, I agree. I really do not know why I kept using it so long. I guess I just like to give everything a chance. But I have actually heard a ton of people have been dropping it. Dunno how true that is.
I still use it, but not like I used to. I don’t go wasting my time dropping, I just drop if I’m visiting the blog anyway.
Tammys last blog post..Camera Critters #22
Tammy, I tried that too. Then I would not have enough “credits” to advertise on other blogs! It just seemed like to much work to keep up.
I didn’t get it at first either and I removed the widget, then I put it back. It’s a quick way to find blogs. I have 3 other blogs that I just don’t bother clicking with, but yet people find me and still advertise. For my main blog, I do click, but only when I have time. It is very consuming. I don’t worry about it too much…it’s just there for when I feel like doing something with it. Doesn’t really hurt to have it. I don’t do SEO or keywords or nothing. I just do what I do….and pray.
HaVE A good one!
Naturals last blog post..Butt-to-Gutt Ratio Gone Wild
Nat, I have other blogs that I never put cards on and they are all doing fine with just SEO, keywords and networking. I figure if I was getting TONS of traffic, then I would have kept it on. But it really was next to nothing. To me, that is just wasted space.
I never really bothered with Entrecards. I think focusing on the content and the people is the way to get traffic. Plus natural organic searches are bound to help.
Nathalie Lussier from Billionaire Womans last blog post..One Number That Has The Power to Change Your Life
Nathalie, when it first came out I was thrilled! I thought it was a great idea. Till I used it for a while….
You know I signed up for Entrecard a few months ago but could never figure out what to do or what it was going to do for me so I never bothered after that. Glad to hear I wasn’t missing out on much.
Catherine @ The Blonde Diariess last blog post..Travelers: More news from the airlines
Catherine, Nope…You are not missing a thing!
Hello Blog Lady: I am still a dropper. I only drop on people that are in my drops inbox. I only reciprocate at this point. After doing this for a couple of months I have developed a relationship with about 50 blogers in my niche that drop on me every day and I then reciprocate.
On the other hand I have had a few problems with blogs outside my niche containing tracking cookies and other nasty type stuff that had me saying “That’s it I quit” But for now I am still a dropper.
P.s. Are you still Tweeting?
Mark, I hardly ever checked my inbox. was never enough time and when i did it was very time consuming! I could never drop everyday. ughhhh…
Yup. I am still on Twitter. I use Twhirl.
