Old Orchard Beach vacation, part 2.
Following up on my post from Friday…
I wanted to finish my post about our vacation that V and I went on. As I told you Friday, we stayed at an adorable little Motel - The Green Dolphin Motel, and I got nothing but good things to say about them! Not only were their rates reasonable, but they also were a few minutes away from the beach and it was clean, quiet and the bed was super comfortable!
Highly recommend them, if you are going to be in Maine by the beach & you need a place to stay, go there you really won’t be disappointed.
I know, I know…I must sound like an ad, but I can assure you - it’s not. I am just really pleased with our stay and I had a wonderful time! I really believe that when you see or experience something that is good - it should be written about just as much!
So, Saturday night we went out to the pier and had a great time walking around the little amusement park called “Palace Playland.” it was cute. Pretty much reminds me of the “Carnivals” that I use to go to as a kid. It was packed. And also quite loud & noisy, but it was fun!

Then we went out to eat at a cute little place called the Bell Buoy . It was nice, and I had a great grilled chicken salad and I actually had a drink with my meal It was called Lava flow I believe. Quite tasty. Never had one before & I think I have a new favorite drink. I’m usually a diet coke type of gal and I never order a drink with my meal, so it was quite nice..
V had the haddock & said it was delicious!
Afterwards, we walked around for a while on the beach, and at the park and just generally had a great time.
Did you know that little birdies come out on the beach at night - at low tide? I never knew that! Apparently they do.
When we got in… around midnight I think? We kinda chilled, had a drink together and sat in the jacuzzi for a bit. It was really nice!
V made the jacuzzi water so hot though - that when we got out…we were both ready to slip into a coma cause we were so relaxed! Luckily, we didn’t actually slip into the coma….lol and had a great rest of the night connecting with each other on a more personal level.. ::wink - wink::
I slept fairly well. The bed was super comfortable and all. But I was a bit worried that I would not hear my phone alarm in the morning - (checkout was at 10am) So I kinda woke up off & on throughout the night.
We checked out at 9:45 and actually ended up meeting the owner who was cleaning the pool. He was a great guy. Really friendly and very helpful. He let us know where we could park when we left the Motel, and actually told us to leave the car in their lot & not to worry about it. He also told us we were more then welcome to use the bathrooms and such if we needed.
V & he talked with him for a bit then we went & spent the rest of our day on the beach & roaming the pier. It was nice.
Neither of us wanted to leave.
Sadly though, we had to - There was a bit more traffic on the way home, but we actually arrived home in time to pick up my daughter at work.
I think Old Orchard Beach is my new favorite place. I hope I get to spend a good amount of time there in the future.
Heck, I liked it so much that I would love to leave here and go there to live! Something about that place is like - magick to me.

I used to love going to Old Orchard beach when I was a kid. I went almost every summer with my parents. So many good memories, and it was great to hear about your experience because it brought back some of mine. Especially your pictures of the amusement park, thank you so much!

Nathalie, Thank you for reading my post! I’m glad I was able to bring back some old memories for you.
I honestly never knew Maine had such beautiful beaches!
Sounds really great and very “non-touristy” which is what I really like. I’m seriously considering a trip to Hilton Head for Labor Day.. just because.. but who knows.
Now, do you think I’m completely WEIRD by the fact that I would have a really, really hard time staying at any place that was labeled a “motel”? seriously.. I’m freaky that way. ha..ha..ha.. maybe saw Psycho one too many times?
Cinnkittys last blog post..Careful, that pistols loaded
Cinn, LOL…Nahhh, I totally know what you are sayin. Psycho was kinda in the back of my mind too…LOL- There was even a motel named the “Norman” Motel..talk bout twisted…
Honestly, I never heard good things about “motels” either. But this place really changed my mind about them! It was so clean and quiet. Everything smelled fresh, no musty odor or anything, and it was also very clean & well kept on the outside.
